To be eligible for Rutland Housing Authority’s Project-Based Section 8 Housing assistance program you must:
- Have a household income that is no more than the Very Low Income Limit (See “Income limits”) established by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for Section 8 Programs;
- Demonstrate eligibility for Local Preferences;
- Verify all income, assets, and allowable exclusions; and
- Show that you are likely to be a good resident
You may be disqualified if:
- You have a poor record of paying your rent;
- You have a record of disturbing the peace of your neighbors;
- You have been convicted for criminal activity (drug related and/or violent criminal behavior are grounds for immediate disqualification). If any household member has ever been convicted of drug-related criminal activity for the production or manufacture of methamphetamine in any location, not just federally assisted housing, the family will be denied assistance; or
- You have a negative landlord history
